Religion & Theology / Re: Theology of what happens when a person dies..
« on: December 27, 2018, 11:10:58 AM »
The use of the expression "Abraham's bosom," was part of a parable/illustration given by Jesus.  Specifically, the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.

"Abraham's bosom" is a term similar to Abel's blood "crying out from the ground." Neither term is to be taken literally. The first term is one of endearment.

To answer the question that is the title of your thread: "What happens when a person dies," based upon scripture, the dead remain unconscious until such time they are resurrected.

When this atheist-writer died, this writer found himself conscious and at the entrance of hell. When you die, you too will be conscious, either in heaven or in hell.

Your post gave me a lot of information.

All of that happened under the Obama administration. Maj. Nidal Hasan was sentenced to death. Not sure what the final outcome was.

Nursing is good. After you do that and after you get a little bit of employment experience, you can go for a MSN which will automatically get you a lot more money!

Hi John. No, I haven't come often enough. It got to the point of realizing that nobody changes their mind via chat forums, so it ends up seeming like an "eternal arguing loop." Everyone's minds are already made up, whether it be about doctrinal issues or political issues or whatever else. Conversely, I'm pursuing a graduate degree in theology and should graduate in the Fall of 2020, if there are no unexpected surprises.

rstrats, I cannot think of any examples, but I have explored the issue that you're referring to. The bible can be interpreted either way because the writers were writing from two different vantage/sociological viewpoints. The first vantage point was from the Sadducees and the second vantage point was from the Pharisees. It deals with high holy days where one particular high holy day intersected with a Saturday sabbath. A similar issue occurs in Catholicism, which has feast days (instead of Jewish high holy days). For example, if a Catholic feast day occurs on a Thursday or a Friday, it is possible for the Catholic bishops to tell the parishioners that they are not obligated to go to the feast day on Thursday or Friday because it is so close to Sunday (or for Jews, Thursday or Friday is so close to the Saturday sabbath). It is very complicated. However, I did not give you a concrete black and white example BECAUSE the issue is so complicated. :-)

Politics / Re: Can Western Civilization in America be saved?
« on: January 15, 2018, 10:01:00 AM »
Recently I saw a powerful video by Os Guinness, who is a very renowned sociologist called, "A Free People's Suicide." With out of control immigration, immense national debt, and a people who have forgotten how we got to where we are, can the USA rebound and regain our moral and civic strength, or are we done altogether? Our framers were not perfect, but the republic they set up, and even died for, gave us a great society. Yes, there were issues like slavery, but the Constitution was hostile to that, and it eventually brought about its end. This is a must watch!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufVmNpefWkM

The Constitution was designed for a moral people and it will not work if a majority of the population is not moral.

For the first 150 years of the United States, annual taxes (per person) was between 1 and 3 percent of their salary. Now it's around 25%, although President Trump has a dream to lower it down to 15% (which has not happened yet).

Lastly, at the academic level in sociology, Marxism is being pushed and taught. It is the antithesis of the Constitution. Thank goodness the Lord anointed Trump to be president because he is a wrecking ball to political correctness.

Religion & Theology / Re: Pedophilia
« on: December 21, 2015, 08:32:40 AM »
It is and almost has to be the "scarlet letter" in church's because of the high recidivism rate among those who abuse the young.  I've had to deal with several in church's where I've been in leadership, and they are under strict rules of where they can and cannot go to the point of even needing an adult escort to use the bathroom.

Being in a church leadership position (in that regard) would be extremely difficult i.e. it's very unsavory to have to deal pedafiles-in-the-church who have asked for forgiveness, but who are still having issues. That's one of those things that you don't think about, until you're in a leadership position.  Again, pedafilic thoughts are demonic in origin.

Our American generation has seen a fast and furious moral decline, to the point where SCOTUS has ruled that homosexuality and homosexual marriage is a Constitutionally protected right. That is a big pendulum swing, considering that it used to be a criminal offense just a few years ago. And then in 1973, SCOTUS ruled that abortions (killing human life) is also a protected right. This legally protected moral decline of American law is not in-line with the Word of God.

All blessings come from the Lord, to include the prosperity and security of the United States. I'm concerned that spiritual judgement will follow the moral depravity that is being embraced at the highest legal levels in our nation.  The wheels of God move slowly, but finely.

After taking with victims of this 'sickness' I thought, to me, the issue is not if convicted pedofiles should have prostatectomies and orchidectomies, the question is should they use anaesthetic or not.

That might just give them enough strength to stop this.

Pedophilic thoughts or desires are demonic in origin.

Here is an interesting chart that shows the progress of various kinds of fuels:

https://g.foolcdn.com/editorial/images/171588/eia-history-of-fuel_large.png

IMO hydropower as a fuel source is the next big energy boom, particularly learning how to harness the power of the ocean ie:
- harnessing the power of horizontal inflow and outflow
- harnessing the power of vertical (up and down) action of oceanic waters.
The U.S. Navy is testing it in Hawaii right now.

I'm not a scientist but this seems like a bunch of nonsense. They talk about HHO gas. What is that? H2O. Which we all know is water and what is water in the form of gas? It's called steam!  I seriously doubt that too many gas engines would run very long on steam.

With all the tree huggers out there if this were true it would be trumpeted from all the mountain tops around the world. Not even the oil companies could pay enough to keep their mouths shut.

Agreed! However, here is another unbelievable development is technology to clean-up polluted water and polluted soils:

Prophecy & End Time Events / Injectable electronics?

Quote from: Harvard University article
Electronic devices injected into the brain or other body parts may treat everything from neurodegenerative disorders to paralysis.

Researchers developed a method for fabricating nano-scale electronic scaffolds that can be injected via syringe. Once connected to electronic devices, the scaffolds monitor neural activity, stimulate tissues and promote regenerations of neurons.

"This opens up a new frontier where we can interface between electronic structures and biology e.g.  electronics/cellular interface."

The idea of merging the biological with the electronic is...

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven.
