Mark 16:18 could of have been a reference to Paul's incident with the snake scared out of the fire.  It was just describing an event, not prescribing a method of worship.

Secular News / Re: Proof of global warming

This is a fairly simple math/logic problem to me-

For proper statistical analysis of anything, you need an appropriate and reliable sample.  We have less than 100 years of reliable global weather data to work with, and they believe in a 4-6 billion year old planet.

That misses the requirement for a reliable sample by several orders of magnitude.

So, is the current cycle of weather a natural occurring one, or man-made?  Sorry, not enough data to make even an educated guess much less an official proclamation of fact.

Case closed.

I find that idea very odd.  I think we should look forward to it as Paul did, so the "perishable can be clothed with the imperishable".
I'm not saying a morbid fascination with death, but a realization that it's simply a door we have to walk through to get to something pretty awesome!

Problems with the climate change argument-

1.  If you believe in old earth, you are talking less than 100 years of reliable data for over 4 billion years.  That sample of data is not nearly enough for an analysis of what or why something is happening.
2.  If you believe in young earth, you believe the earth is 6-10,000 years old, and the same problem applies.
3.  Considering the above, are we simply witnessing a normal climate variable in the planet?

I'm all for controlling carbon emissions and such because I like clean air to breath, but let us actually use science to tell us what is going on, not start with a hypothesis (and a poor one at that) and then try to prove it through small data "proofs" conducted by people with financial incentive to prove this bad theory.

People get overly paranoid about this.

I'm not discounting the potential of this, nor that it will happen.  However, the use of biometrics by itself is not the mark.  The Mark the visual sign of giving oneself over to the worship of the antichrist and his image-

Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.  And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people.  Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.  The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.  It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.e That number is 666.

Religion & Theology / Self Defense quote my Martin Luther

In answering the question of personal self defense, Martin Luther said this-
"Yes, indeed! In that event [if I was attacked by robbers] I should be the authority and wield the sword, because no one else would be near to protect me. I should strike as many dead as I could and thereupon receive the Sacrament and should consider myself to have done a good work."

Problems with praying to people formally human-

1.  Are they now omniscient?  Does God provide them with a answering machine to record all those prayers so they can then in turn bring them to Him?  Scripture tells us God does not share His Glory (expressed through his Godly attributes of omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence) with another.
2.  It's a violation of scripture (1st and 2nd commandment, Deut 6. Matthew 6:9-13)
3.  Hebrews states Jesus is our mediator, period.  The temple veil was torn that separated God from the individual.  Human religion tries to sew it back up.
4.  On a personal level, it would not be heaven for me to have to hear about someone's cancer, broken relationships, pain and suffering, ect.  The old will be gone, and the new will be our reality.

Jesus presented the concept of the soul continuing in death in the story of Lazarus and the rich man. If the concept were of Satanic origin, then Jesus would not have presented it.

"Let everything be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses" has been the bedrock for proper exegesis of scripture.  You can't take one parable and make a doctrine out of it without other supporting scripture.

The integration of spirit (the part of us that is in God's image) and flesh is what makes the soul.

"It is the breath of the Almighty that gives man understanding."

A body without a soul would just be a slightly more able animal.

It is a hypothetical.  I've been thinking about this some, but have not come to any conclusion yet as really we can't come to one with any certainty.

The flood happened when the Sons of God interbred with the daughters of men.  There are some that believe the human DNA was so corrupted that God decided to wipe all of humanity out and start over with the only uncorrupted family, Noah's.

Of course, that's only a theory, and not really supported by scripture.  I have a friend that wrote a whole fiction series about it.

Here is a question to stir up the mix-

If human cloning becomes a reality (if it hasn't already), would those people have a soul/spirit, or would they just be "meat" for demons to inhabit?

Religion & Theology / Re: "The Altar Call"
« on: August 09, 2013, 09:42:08 AM »
I was trained in the use of Altar Calls (Assembly of God), and as I gain more experience in the ministry, I used them less and less.   As it was stated, there wasn't much (if any) biblical examples of this practice.

Hates the gap theory.  It puts death, destruction, and judgment before the fall of man.

Religious Lie: "God only paid for sins until the next time you sin."
Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
