The above scripture posted by Tom sums up what I believe.  :D

I believe in the doctrine of pre-destiny because there is nothing that I can do to warrant or merit my salvation or my entry into heaven. I must rely exclusively on the merits of Jesus for entry into his kingdom. Others, such as yourself, may have the ability to perform enough works to merit your entry into heaven; however, I am the most wretched of human souls and, subsequently, I am 100% dependent upon Christ's works and not my own works for entry into heaven. I am in no way being sarcastic or argumentative with this statement. That's just the way it is.

In your opinion, what percentage of a man's salvation is based upon his own works?

Are our own works used to grant us entrance into heaven?

Or are our works simply evidence that we're saved?

Or is the evidence of our works used to save us?

Or is all of this a play on words that simply can't be understood, unless God grants us the wisdom that He has granted you?

Or can we not understand this because we are stubborn? Or maybe we're simply not intelligent enough?  :o

"So then, stand firm and hold to the traditions :o which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter" (2 Thessalonians 2:15).

Frankly, I have never entered into any discussion previously pertaining to being either Calvinist or Arminianist.  But rather from a Sola Scriptura basis only, in my own views.

However, if I were given to decide between one of the two, it would be Arminianism decidedly, with the added affirmation of belief in Eternal security.  To me, for a person to obtain salvation, it is up to him to make the decision to act upon coming to Jesus, confessing his sins and expressing his belief in Him.  Though I will also concede the fact it is the Father who will draw me to do so, according to Jn.6:44.

IMO, it is also God's desire that we all express a desire to belong to Him, rather than for us to be His "volunteers" as is done in the Army I served in! :)

I site the following as a case and point for Arminianism:

Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
