Tribulation and Great Tribulation
« on: January 04, 2011, 01:36:20 PM »
I am trying to get a better understanding of eschatology.  Perhaps some could help me with the tribulation.

The book of Revelation describes a time of Tribulation which lasts seven years.  The tribulation consists of:  Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, Seven Vials (Bowls), and Judgments (Mystery Babylon, Babylon the Great, and Armageddon).

Can the seven years of tribulation be divided into two categories:  Tribulation and Great Tribulation?

If so, where would they be divided?

Thank you for your input!

It amazes me this post never had any response and is the first time I have ever seen it, posted nearly a year and a half ago.  How come you guys didn't move it to the Prophecy forum?

There is much more to Revelation than is referred to in the above, but to stick to the precise question asked, yes, the 7 year tribulation is divided into two parts.

The tribulation itself is based on the 70 Weeks prophecy in Dan.9:24-27, where each week is a period of 7 years.  Verse 27 is the specific verse describing that period of time, in which reference isw made to the "middle of the Week," or the 3.5 year point of the 7 year total, of the 7 year trib. When the antichrist sets up the "abomination of Desolation." as described in 2 Thes.2:4.  That is when the Great Tribulation will begin.

Scroll down to vs 27 and you can find the particulars.

Jesus amplified Dan.9:27 in His Olivet discourse of Mt.24:4-29, together with its counterparts in Mk.13 and in Lk.21.

Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
