Affect of Sin
« on: November 12, 2011, 07:15:50 AM »
Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I had a discussion with someone the other day, who was trying to convince me that the only sin that causes us to be separated from God is rejecting Jesus.  I thought that we just had a semantics problem, but after further discussion - he believed that Christ's work on Calvary washed away all sin for all of mankind.  Now, the only thing that causes separation is rejecting the Son of God.

We agree on the importance of receiving Jesus Christ for salvation, but his misunderstanding actually changes the gospel message for him - doesn't it?  If you have any thoughts on this... or any Scriptures that point to sin separating us from God, I would appreciate your input.  I will meet with him again on this topic.

Thank you for your input.

Well the guy is just all wet. If their sins were washed away then they would have to somehow get lost again to go to hell and since rejecting Jesus is a sin also that would  be washed away.
The payment the Lord made does have the potential to save every person, but only those who receive Him will have the payment applied to them.
Isaiah 48:18,Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Thank you Saved.  Do you have any specific passages I could show him (I do know the Roman Road and will certainly show him these).  I am just seeking further evidence.

Thank you.

John 8:21 shows they are already deperated because of their sin and their denying Jesus keeps them from being saved.

Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
