Helping the poor and socialism..
« on: December 12, 2011, 01:40:16 PM »
Seem  that if the talk about helping the poor is discussed, there is much heat and the word socialism comes into play.

AM thinking, the goal should be to educated them, get them working at high paying jobs that pay a lot of taxes.

Once people figure out that they can vote themselves into prosperity, then the Republic is doomed.  :o

Reminds of the phrase "bread and ciruses". A method that the Roman empire used to keep it's people  happy for a few years right before it fell. I read recently where someone said the difference between then and now is that the gladiator games and chariot races have moved into the homes today via graphic violence and sex in the form of tv programming and movies. Oh...let me add video games.

The winds of the religious and political environment are starting to stir at a pace that most don't realize. Even secular people that I talk to know that something is astir. The angels holding back the winds of strife are starting to loosen their grip.

Rev 7:1  And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
Rev 7:2  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Rev 7:3  Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

What you wrote is relevant and apt, but conversely, I recently heard a preacher say that Jesus is coming back for a victorious church and not a defeated church. That is not to say that there won't be pockets of persecution and abuse on the planet, but even in those circumstances, the Christian can be victorious in the Spirit e.g. Paul was singing praises to God when he was thrown into prison by the authorities (that's victorious).  Jesus is coming back for a church that is operating in power and in the fullness of God. Jesus said, "Greater things than these will you do..." Jesus walked on water, fed thousands with a couple of fish, healed the sick, raised the dead, stopped storms and rebuked devils. Greater things than these? That would be victorious!!!
"So then, stand firm and hold to the traditions :o which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter" (2 Thessalonians 2:15).

I agree that Christ will return to receive to Himself a church a that is indeed victorious. However, I think that there will be more than just a few pockets of persecution. How we measure victorious might differ a little. Victorious is not necessarily a power to heal and perform miracles. All of these can be counterfeited. Remember the devil will have things that if possible would deceive even the elect. Pharaoh's magicians also did miracles and we will see false miracles again.

Rev_13:14  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Rev_16:14  For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Rev_19:20  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

The best demonstration of victorious living is to abide and remain in Christ so that we are like Him. The best demonstration of victorious living is to be an overcomer! The victorious church will be walking by faith not by sight. Peter after talking about witnessing the transfiguration of Christ said that there is something even more sure than witnessing miracles. What was that??  The Word!

2Pe 1:19  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Rev_3:21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

P.S. After reading this it could look like I was trying to come down hard on you but that was not my intention. I think we probably agree on this more than we disagree. I just know that in Christian church today there is a lot emphasis on the supernatural.

Now I've really sidetracked the topic! Sorry!

Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
