Ephesians 2:6-8

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Eph%202&version=KJV

Notes and comments:

* Grace = favour
* We are saved by the favour of God, through faith;
* It is not by you... rather it is the gift of God.
* It is not by your works... otherwise you would boast.
* We have been created in Christ Jesus so we can do good works...
* God has planned for us to walk in these good works...

1 Peter 2:17-25

17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Notes and Comments

* The words in red are the word "Grace."
* Here "Grace" is an acknowledged reward. We suffer for a noble cause, and God accepts our actions as noteworthy, graceworthy.
* Jesus' saving actions provide us an example. His actions save, ours simply imitate.
* "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."
* Jesus actions make it so we don't want to sin. Rather, we wish to live righteously, i.e. in a graceworthy manner in the eyes of God.
* To live in a graceworthy manner does not save us. But, it is attractive to God.
* Notice that Jesus died for us so that we could live righteously; worthy of acknowledgement (grace) in the eyes of God.

Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 48:18,Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Like you pretend parts of the NT are not for the church.
Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

You are a typical false teacher rejecting scripture for your own way.

Acts 20:21 (KJV)

"Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

This verse does not use the term "Grace". However, since it has been mentioned on this thread, let's examine it with the passage:

Paul is speaking to the elders of Ephesus. He reviews the highlights of his work. His message to everyone was to repent and have faith.

We are saved by the gracious acts of God. Recall that even repentance is a gift from God. Thus, it is part of His Grace to us.

Yes it is all about the grace of God and we receive that grace when we come to repentance and faith.

God's Grace is God's Initiative then I Respond

We receive God's Grace when we accept it. God's Grace is revealed in Jesus, the giving of His Word, the Creation of the World, etc. He came our way long before we invited Him to do so. While we were yet sinners...

The Scriptural call for the individual to respond is clearly shown in Scripture. Let's demonstrate this in a thread with that intent.

(Can we do this without posting attacks on each other. Even if we feel that a judgmental scripture applies to our partner in dialogue, I see no benefit to attacking each other in the name of Jesus.)  :(

Titus 1

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
