The blue highlighted sections seem to be related to our "Grace" study.

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

This verse refers to an act of Grace dated before the world began... i.e. the promise of eternal life.

Titus 1:4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Grace is used in a standard greeting. This indicates the ongoing need of God's Grace. We thrive on His Grace.

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

If a fruit tree bears apples in season, it provides evidence that it is an apple tree. The bearing of apples does not change the status of the apple tree. It is an apple tree by the Grace of God. But, those in the apple business need to know which trees provide the apples.

So, works do nothing to create a Christian. Such a new creation is the work of God's Grace. All I can do is open my heart by means of faith.

I can examine my life to determine where I stand. If my works deny my profession, I need to turn to God for help.

As long as we agree with the bible that repentance is necessary for salvation.
Isaiah 48:18,Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

I do see the word 'repent' a lot as I read thought the Bible. I believe it still belongs there.
