Cross-Referential Bible Reading
« on: June 18, 2013, 09:30:08 AM »
Reading the Bible Straight Through
The first time I read the bible, it took four years. I had to re-read many of the Old Testament chapters two, three and sometimes four times before getting a "glimmer of understanding" -- and only then would I move on.

Cross-Referential Reading of Bible
I'm now reading through the bible by reading cross references and footnotes, starting with the New Testament. It is enlightening and meditative. However, at this pace, I speculate it will take me about 15 years to get through the entire thing.

Have you done a cross-referential bible study of the entire book?

"So then, stand firm and hold to the traditions :o which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter" (2 Thessalonians 2:15).

That is true devoted determination!  I salute you for your efforts.  Which reference Bible are you using, or do you use several?
"I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except by me."  Jn.14:6.

The RSV. It has comparative scriptures and commentaries at the bottom.

Forgiveness is available until we get to eternity and then our eternal fate is sealed. Right now, people are free to sin and repent; but there is no forgiveness of sin for the damned in hell.

JUST A THINK ABOUT IT: Will you embrace the full meaning of Christmas? Jesus didn't die just so you could go to heaven. He came to give you life - His life; an abundant life free from guilt, condemnation, and slavery to both sins and religion. He came to bring a grace revolution to the world and tha
