I was actually thinking about that last week. I asked the Lord not to take me until I completed the Father's will, whatever that might be. I don't want to enter eternity knowing that I intentionally ignored His will, in favor of my own will.   :-[
"So then, stand firm and hold to the traditions :o which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter" (2 Thessalonians 2:15).

I find that idea very odd.  I think we should look forward to it as Paul did, so the "perishable can be clothed with the imperishable".
I'm not saying a morbid fascination with death, but a realization that it's simply a door we have to walk through to get to something pretty awesome!

There are many accounts of Christians who have died, gone to heaven, been shown what it was like, and were then returned to earth. Some of them said that they were surprised to see that certain preachers were not in heaven, while conversely, other people were. For example, Aunt Jane Doe was in heaven, which surprised him because she was an unbeliever, at least when he knew her, so she obviously had an experience before she died where she accepted Jesus. Regarding the preachers who did not make it to heaven: We can only see their supposed exterior motives, but God knows their interior heart. The moral of the story is that only God knows our hearts. Man judges the glitz and glamor of the outside, to include the gift of gab, but God sees the interior of the soul.
