It is a figure of speech.

The whole thing is riddled with such.

I acknowledge that that is your reason for not believing the "concept" presented by Jesus.

There should be evidence all though the Bible to support such, there is not.

If one begins at the beginning of the Bible, and reviews any text on being dead, it becomes clear.

I do not know what soul sleep means. The 'soul' ceases to exist at death.

Here is the figure of speech:

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Lazarus was in Abraham's bosom. The figure of speech means he was next to Abraham's bosom. Similarly, a disciple was in Jesus' bosom in the following scripture:

Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Being in someone's bosom in the scriptures is a sign of endearment and trust. Similarly, Jesus is in the bosom of the Father in the following scripture:

Quote from: John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

1. Lazarus was in the bosom of Abraham.
2. The disciple was in Jesus' bosom.
3. Jesus is in the bosom of the father.

These figures of speech make perfect sense and are a reality.

Hi "me again",

The subject of the state of the dead is really deep, and of course, we could go on for months debating it.  I've debated this subject till I turned green--meaning, you will literally rot in front of your computer because nobody changes their mind, lol.

I've posted enough articles on this forum already for now, so I don't want to flood it anymore.  However, I thought I'd suggest you go to youtube and watch the 2 presentations done by Pastor Bohr from beginning to end on the state of the dead:

The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus - Part 1.  You'll have to find parts 2-6 on the side pane in youtube.  This is the most thorough and exegetical presentation you'll ever hear on the Rich Man and Lazarus.

Concerning the "Souls under the Altar" by Pastor Bohr, check out this link here:
